Trip meeting at Shedd Aquarium

On Wednesday the 9th, the meeting for the trip was held in conjunction with some of the sponsors of Shedd Aquarium. It was great. We met with Cheryl, who is Shedd's travel planner and most of the members who we will be joining on this trip. Some members of previous and future trips were also there. The meeting was held after hours so we had the entire place to ourselves and were treated to supper along with beer and wine. Deb and I spent much time with the Beluga whales and the Pacific Dolphins, having just come back from Baja Mexico watching the pacific dolphins riding the waves made from the cruise ship. Most of our questions were answered by previous travelers in that they spoke highly of the arrangements and quality of the trips they made thru Shedd. We are planning on traveling light as we will be immersed in the Amazon environment and expect to get wet and muddy.

Starting to become Real

We are beginning to realize that we are actually going.

As the months and weeks tick by, we find ourselves discussing the trip more and more. We have finally mentioned the trip to some of our family and friends. I guess up to that point, the cancelation was money free. It is no longer possible to cancel without a huge penalty. We are committed.

Gearing Up

Five and a half months to get ready. Stopped at Duluth Trading, got some Amazon clothes. Quick drying because they say it rains every day there. Expect to get wet.
